Production started with Budafok's socialist MP Ildikó Lendvai pushing the button at the new champagne factory of Törley. The modernization cost Ft 2.4 billion, Ft 540 million of which were EU subsidies. The main goal of the investment, apart from efficiency improvement, is to meet all EU criteria, explained company CEO Tamás Gocsályi. As a result of the investment, he expects to further strengthen Törley's market leading position of 59%. When modernizing, they have to keep in mind not only the European rivals but the Latin American and the Australian competitors as well. Gocsályi added, mass production is one thing, but the importance of quality raw material is inevitable. (MH 11) E.C.
