Tesco wins Ft 50 mln to train staff

Retail chain Tesco Global Stores Rt won the biggest amount of money on the human resource improvement program tender (HEFOP) financed by the European Union. The company will use the money to facilitate master exams for fork-lift operators, bakers and meat industry workers, HR director András Dobák told daily Világgazdaság. Since the limit was raised to Ft 50 mln, more and more multinational companies have been tendering, said Labour Ministry official Sándor Tóth. Tenders can be submitted until the end of 2006 and are decided on every two months. At present there are several billion forints still available for domestic employers.
