Tele2 looks to expand, launch dial-up service

Having entered the Hungarian fixed-line telephone market last year, Tele2 Hungary Kft is planning to extend its services to all of the areas where Matáv Rt is the incumbent provider by the end of January, enter Emitel Rt?s three areas in March and Invitel Rt?s nine areas in June, the company said. Tele2?s services already cover Monortel Rt?s area and 22 Matáv districts and, but not yet those using an analog system. The company is also planning to launch dial-up Internet service in H1, 2005; however, it is not going to offer broadband internet (ADSL) as yet. Tele2 is moreover looking to upgrade its provider selection system to allow users to make calls through its network without having to dial a prefix. The Hungarian Tele2 subsidiary attracted over 200,000 subscribers in the first eight months of its operation to November.
