Technology boosts purchase

The retail trade of consumer electronics grew by 6% last year compared to 2003, according to market research institute GfK?s study published today. The growth is mainly due to products with improved, digital technology. Last year 99% of households in Hungary owned a color TV, 57% a video recorder, while 45% of them a hifi-tower, the study showed. The price of new, digital technology, i.e. DVDs, digital video cameras, portable CD players and home movies declined by 2-35%. In 2004 22% of households had a DVD player and 8% a home movie.
