Sunday, September 25, 2005, 00:00
Switzerland decided to open up its job market to people from the ten new EU members, including Hungary. According to the referendum held this Sunday, 56% of the Swiss voters backed the government's proposal to extend the country's agreement with the EU on the free movement of people to the ten new members. The government proposal means that 12,400 people from the new EU members will get a one-year work permit in 2006, and the number will go up to 29,000 by 2011. A number of five-year work permits will increase from 1,300 to 3,000 during the same period. (NG 1) P.O.
