Steel manufacturer Dunaferr Rt sealed a Euro 7 million deal with its Ukrainian partner Azovimpex regarding the second phase of reconstruction of a unit within its coke factory. The upgrade will allow the unit to operate at full capacity starting Q4 of this year, after which Dunaferr will become a self-sufficient coke producer or even have a surplus to sell. According to the agreement, the upgrade will boost the annual capacity of the unit by 450,000 tons, which will thus churn out an 800,000 tons of coke per year. The costs of the two-phase coker reconstruction total Euro 18 million. Phase one was completed in May 2003, since when the operation of the unit has been stable.
