State may scrap MOL stake sale

The state may decide to scrap plans to sell its remaining 11.8% stake in Hungarian oil and gas company MOL Rt this year, Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány said in yesterday's issue of Népszabadság, Hungary's biggest daily. The sale of the stake was slated for this year under the government's original privatization plan, but just a few days earlier Tamás Mészáros, who heads Hungary's privatization agency ÁPV, said the state's privatization revenue target of Ft 300 billion could be met without the sale, if other big sales generate enough proceeds.
