Stadler-MÁV contract soon to enter force

Swiss rail carriage maker Stadler's contract to deliver thirty vehicles, with an option for thirty more, to Hungarian railway company MÁV Rt will come into force as soon as MÁV organizes financing for the purchase, MÁV said yesterday. The announcement came a day after Hungary's Public Procurement Arbitration Board rejected an appeal by the loser in the tender to deliver the vehicles, which has been disputed for months. MÁV said it would continue a public purchase procedure to finance the purchase with banks picked in a qualifying round. It expects Stadler to deliver the first vehicles in the spring of 2006.
