Stadler AG wins MÁV tender

Stadler AG won a tender to supply a total of 30 train engines and 30 train cars to the Hungarian State Railways Rt (MÁV), which was announced in April 2004. Of the three companies that submitted a bid, only Alstom, Bombardier and Stadler made it to the last round, with Alstom knocked out after March 11's competitive bidding. The first engines may be finished in a year, with the the first consignment of 30 expected to be put into operation within two years. The 30 engines and 30 cars cost Euro 4.96 million each. Their maintenance and cleaning costs Euro 125,000 and Euro 10,400 per year, respectively. The supply contract will be signed in 30 days.
