Some 12,000 tons of crude to be freed up

Hungary will release about 12,000 tons of crude from its strategic reserves at the request of the International Energy Agency to keep oil prices down in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, government spokeswoman Boglar László said on Friday. This is equivalent to about 1-2 days of Hungary's 90 days worth of strategic oil reserves. Hungarian oil and gas company MOL Rt will buy the crude oil freed up from strategic reserves as the winner of a tender invited for the purchase, Boglar said. (MTI)
