Service charge from Saturday
Sunday, September 25, 2005, 00:00
From Saturday restaurants are allowed to add a service charge to the bill, Világgzdaság reports. The service charge cannot exceed 15% of the total amount of the bill and restaurants deciding to apply it are required to represent it on the menu and the wine list, and also, on the price list. Every custumer is to pay the extra charge. Restaurant employees are given their due from the amount collected once a month. According to Tamás Háber, Chairman of the Guild of Hungarian Caterers, mostly elite restaurants and hotel dining resorts are likely to introduce the new charge while 90-95% of caterers will not, as Hungarian diners dislike the idea of an obligatory extra charge.
