Hungary's second largest airport, Balaton airport at Sármellék has received 20% more passengers this summer than in the same season of last year, airport operator Cape Clear Aviation Kft's managing director Ágoston Gubicza said to business daily Világgazdaság. Sármellék expects 50,000 passengers this year and hopes to welcome 150,000 in a few years, when a new terminal is opened, Gubicza said. According to a survey, the majority of Sármellék passengers are Germans, but they fly to Sármellék to reach Hévíz and other spas of the region and not lake Balaton resorts, Gubicza said.
