Road construction continues to drive construction industry growth

The volume of 2004 construction industry output was 6.8% higher than the previous year?s, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said. While the volume of newly completed buildings decreased by 3.7%, the volume of other structures (mostly roads) increased by a massive 21.9%. Construction industry output in December alone was 4.9% higher than a year earlier, while in working day adjusted figures the increase was 2.3%. In comparison with the exceptionally high November data, the volume of newly built structures was 1.9% lower in December in adjusted figures.
