The number of retail sales was 2.2% higher in December 2004, 3.4% higher in Q4, 2004 and 5.7% higher in the whole year of 2004, than in the respective corresponding periods a year before, according to the Central Statistics Office (KSH) based on data cleaned from the changing number of working days annually. The number of retail sales in December was 0.9% up from the November figure after making a seasonal and working day balance. Retail networks and distance retail chains had a total turnover of Ft 5,309 billion last year, out of which Ft 612 billion was spent in December. Compared to data a year earlier, retail sales grew by 3.3% in December 2004, that is 2.2% based on data cleaned from the changing number of working days annually. The increase has slowed down compared to earlier growth speed, but that is also due to the extreme 12.1% growth of December 2003.
