Retail sales up 5.7% year-on-year in June

The volume of retail sales in Hungary was 5.7% higher in June than in the same month of last year, according to workday-adjusted figures released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Friday. Retail sales volume in June rose 0.4% from May, according to seasonally and workday-adjusted figures. The volume of retail sales in the first half of the year rose an adjusted 4.8%, compared to the same period in 2004. In the second quarter, retail sales volume increased 6.2%. In January-June, retail turnover was Ft 2,508.7 billion (Euro 10.29 billion) at current prices. In line with EU statistics, the figures do not include sales of vehicles, vehicle parts or fuel. Retail sales volume of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) increased 5.4% year-on-year in June and rose 0.4% from May, adjusted figures show. Non-food turnover increased 6% year-on-year in June and was up 0.7% from May.
