The market of daily FMCG grew by 5% in 2004- GfK Hungária Market Research Institute reported. The extension of the annual Ft 2,200 billion FMCG market was smaller last year than before. Specialists of GfK Hungária projected a 5% growth for 2005 too. Retail shops' turnover has been declining for years, they had a 17% market share in 2004, but their turnover is further expected to shrink. Households spent 48% of their consumption in 2004 in retail shops, which means max. one-third of the consumption on developed markets. Hypermarkets gained further 1% in 2004, thus have a market share of 22%. The market share of other market players has not changed.
