Priority fine for Magyar Posta

The Competition Office (GVH) levied a Ft 5 million fine on Magyar Posta Rt for its potentially misleading advertisements. The ads of the national postal service provider may have led consumers to believe that priority mail is actually given priority over standard mail in each phase of the delivery process, and that these reach their destination the day after they are mailed as a result. In fact, Magyar Posta was not only unable to deliver priority mail in a day, but it also failed to meet the legal requirement that 80% of these should arrive in three days. GVH also took account of the fact that the company has a monopoly in the Hungarian market.
