Only politicians scored worse than senior company managers on a recent poll measuring people's confidence in certain professions, national daily Népszabadság reported on Tuesday. People seem to have more confidence in doctors, teachers, the police and the military, according to a poll conducted in 18 countries by market research firm GfK. In Hungary, 86% expressed no trust in their political leaders and this rate was much the same in all the countries. Respondents cited politicians' involvement in financial, power-related and sexual scandals as the main reasons for their misgivings. The second least trusted were senior managers of large companies. At the other end of the scale, the poll showed that 84% of respondents had confidence in doctors and 82% said the same about teachers.
