Pokorni, Hiller discuss privatization

The governing Socialist Party (MSzP) and the opposition party Fidesz came no closer to an agreement on the future of privatization in Hungary after a meeting yesterday. Following a meeting with Fidesz deputy president Zoltán Pokorni, MSzP president István Hiller said that privatization has come to an end after fifteen years and that MSzP is waiting for Fidesz's proposals regarding a bill which would end the sale of state assets. Pokorni reiterated Fidesz's proposal to require approval of two-thirds of Parliament a list of state-owned companies not to be privatized as they deemed of strategic importance. (Econews; Nb 1, MH 4)
