PM meets US Secretary of State

Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány met US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice behind closed doors Thursday evening. The prime minister, who is on a five-day official visit to the United States, also had talks with Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and House Speaker Dennis Hastert. Parties at the talks agreed that ties between Hungary and the US were balanced both at a bilateral level and in NATO terms. Gyurcsány raised the issue of the US requiring entry visas from Hungarian visitors to the country at each of the meetings, according to unidentified sources. Defense Minister Ferenc Juhász, who is accompanying Gyurcsány, met Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, and discussed with him military ties and issues regarding cooperation between the two countries.
