Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány on Friday challenged main opposition Fidesz party leader Viktor Orbán to a public debate on the 2006 budget bill. Speaking in parliament, Gyurcsány said he was sorry that Orbán had not spoken in the general budget debate, the last major piece of legislation before next year's elections and a law that would dominate all of 2006. He then proposed a one-on-one public debate with Orbán on the budget, suggesting that Orbán pick a time.
