Parliament elects two constitutional judges today
Sunday, September 25, 2005, 00:00
Parliament is expected to elect two constitutional judges today for the three vacant positions. András Bragyova and Péter Kovács have been appointed by the government and the opposition parties respectively. The Constitutional Court has 11 members, but the court has not operated with full speed since the summer of 2003. As parliamentary parties can hardly come to an agreement about candidates of the court, many specialists urge the reform of the election system. However, the Justice Ministry has not found a better solution and has not yet prepared an amendment. (Nv 3) M.K.
