The Parliament's Environmental Committee has provided its "theoretical" approval for the extension of the operation time of the Paks Power Plant. To extend the 30-year life span of the 4 reactors by an extra 20 years, an investment of Ft 170 billion is needed. During the meeting, an argument has developed on the real costs of the life span enlargement, and on who will be responsible for the extra costs. Paks Power Plant CEO József Kovács assured the government that the investment will be paid by the company and that the budget will not have to contribute to it with extra funds. (Nv 4) E.C.
