Nitrokémia 2000 Rt, the bankrupt chemical company, is close to signing a deal to sell its phtalic acid plant to the Slovenian Kemiplast d.o.o, who is said to have offered nearly Ft 1 billion for the facility, Napi Gazdaság reported. Nitrokémia, which went into liquidation last December, has been struggling to offload its assets to potential investors needed to pay off its debts. Negotiations with several bidders have so far proved unsuccessful because the offers were too low, the company said. In the first round, three companies, two Hungarian and one from Slovenia, have expressed interest in buying Nitrokémia's assets, but the company said it will invite another round of bids this summer.
