National visas planned for Jan 1st

The Foreign Ministry yesterday informed the Budapest ambassadors of four neighboring countries that Hungary would introduce a special national visa on January 1, 2006, a foreign state secretary said. The ministry has delivered relevant notes to the ambassadors of Ukraine, Serbia-Montenegro, Romania and Croatia, Maria Fekszi said. The national visa will allow its holder to enter Hungary several times and stay for over three months with the purpose of studying and practicing the Hungarian language, preserving his or her national cultural identity, studying in institutions other than state universities and colleges, and fostering family ties.
