Municipalities can expect Ft 200 bln

Hungary will have over Ft 500 billion available for development in 2006, and over Ft 200 billion of that money will go to local governments, the prime minister said yesterday, addressing a gathering of local authority leaders in Balatonszemes, W Hungary. Ferenc Gyurcsány, addressing the Community of Left-Wing Local Authorities, said local authorities would be getting increased powers of decision while less of the funding they receive will be earmarked, giving them more control over what they spend on.
