Hungarian Television (MTV) Rt is laying off another 176 people, including makeup artists, stage designers and setters, daily Népszabadság reported. The management plants to replace them by ordering services of independent companies. They claim that this will result in cost reduction, but workers' council doubts this statement, as the management did not present any calculation, which would confirm it. Because of that, the council did not sign the dismissal plan, chairman, Gábor Kapuvári said. The executives must hurry with the layoff, as the state budget will only reimburse its cost of about Ft 500 million till the end of the year. The television has 1,608 employees and about 600 contractors, chairman Zoltán Rudi aims to have about 1,500 associates in total in long term.
