According to Népszava, MTV will run out of money by mid-October if provisions by the state, laid down in the budget, do not arrive at the channel. MTV expects Ft 3,5 billion from the Ministry of Culture for the rights to use TV-archives so that they could share the digital copies of their programmes with National Audiovisual Archives (Nemzeti Audiovizuális Archivum, NAVA). According to sources, there could be Ft 2,2 billion less than the funds coming in. If MTV cannot have access to funds, scaling down airtime and putting entertainment programmes on hold might as well come into play, Chairman Zoltán Rudi has claimed. This year's business plan for MTV calculates Ft 19 billion for operational and programme costs. (NV 3) A.H.
