The Hungarian Television (MTV) building, once home to the first stock exchange, is expected to be set under the category "monument of high importance," thus being granted extra protection. The proposal has already been prepared, and it is awaiting the approval of the Cultural Minister, András Bozóki. The sale of properties belonging to this category is prohibited, nor can they be functionally altered, however, the building has already been purchased by Canadian investor Tippin Corporation from State Privatization and Holding Rt (ÁPV) Rt. The new owner, having bought it for over Ft 4 billion is concerned, because sooner or later, they want to use this building for alternative purposes. (MH 10) E.C.
