Lawn mower manufacturer MTD Hungária Kft is expected to increase its 2005 turnover by over Ft 6 billion from the Ft 16.1 billion achieved last year to Ft 22.7 billion by the end of this year, Világgazdaság reported. The Nemesvámos-based, American-owned company increased its turnover by 10% in Hungary and doubled its sales in Eastern Europe. The growth is attributed to the introduction of a new electronic and also a gas-powered lawn mower set, along with a new gas chainsaw earlier this year. MTD are also planning to start producing grass scythes as well starting from December. MTD employs 500 workers during its high season in Spring, in its 20 000 sqm production hall, and has 50 Hungarian suppliers. 30% of the parts originate from a domestic company, and the management has set a goal to reach the 50% ratio on Hungarian components.
