Hungarian oil and gas company Mol expects the price of petrol to stabilize around
Ft 275 per litre in August, and the price of diesel to remain between Ft 260 and Ft 265, László Varró, the company's chief economist, announced on Tuesday, business daily Napi Gazdaság reported. Varró said the projections were based on expectations that the price of oil would stay around USD 60 per barrel. Mol expects the price it pays for imported natural gas, which follows the price of oil, to rise from Ft 45 per cubic metre in the coming months to Ft 50 by the beginning of 2006. Analysts do not expect any drop in the price of natural gas until next summer, unless the price of oil falls in the meantime.
