Mobiles go East

The production of Siemens mobile phones is to discontinue at the Flextronics Rt plant in Zalaegerszeg as BenQ, having acquired the mobile phone branch from Siemens, has decided to transfer assembly to China, daily business Világgazdaság reported. BenQ, focusing on the Far East, is reorganising its whole supplier chain and expects to save up to ?250 million. The company plans to make phone production, a source of losses for previous owner Siemens, profitable as early as next year.
