The Parliament has recently modified the Plant Protection Act to allow more stringent checks on ragweed control starting this year. The Ministry of Agriculture and Regional Development has called the attention of landowners to their legal obligations to eliminate ragweed infection on their properties. The law requires all proprietors in the entire country to take appropriate measures against this weed. Land registry officials will carry out random checks not only in farmland area but also in towns and cities, industrial and business premises, along roads, railways and rivers as well. Ragweed killing must be completed until 30 June, and the owners who fail to do so will be fined.
