Ministry calls for golden ideas

The Environment and Water Ministry has invited ideas from the general public and civil organizations as to what considerations should be taken into account in respect of the impact studies and licensing procedure of the planned gold mine investment in the Transylvanian village of Rosia Montana. Romania?s new government invited Hungary as an affected party a week ago to participate in assessing the potential impacts of Rosia Montana Gold Corporation?s project, which has been a cause of concern for many. As a result, Hungarian authorities and civil organizations participate in the licensing procedure on an equal footing with Romanian citizens and legal entities. The plans of the investors? consortium, headed by Canadian Gabriel Resources Ltd, may not only pose an environmental hazard but would also erase the village of Rosia Montana from the face of earth. Suggestions are welcome between Jan. 21 and 31 by e-mail to email@example.com.
