MAV Informatika bids for BKV ticket system

Following an appeal to the Public Purchase Arbitration Board, MAV Informatika, the IT unit of Hungarian railway company MAV, will be among the companies bidding for a contract to set up an electronic ticket
system for the Budapest Public Transport Company (BKV), business daily Napi Gazdaság. The three other companies in the bidding are EDS Hungary, Sagem Hungary and T-systems. Bids must be submitted by September 12 and results will be published in November 2005. The winner will pay for the cost of the ticket system, but BKV will then pay the winner an annual fee, covering costs of operation and investment for ten years after its installation. After ten years, BKV will take over ownership of the system. The estimated cost of the system is Ft 15 billion - 20 billion.
