Mátra Power Plant propels turbines with Euro 40 mln investment

Mátra Power Plant Rt signed a Euro 40 million contract with Babcock-Hitachi Europe GmbH to build new gas turbine generators and service the existing ones, the company told news agency MTI. The new generators, worth Euro 20 million in total, will become operational by early 2007, boosting capacity by 92 MW to 928 MW. The service contract, also worth Euro 20 million, will expire in 2021. Mátra Power Plant will finance the project with its own funds. In line with the framework agreement, Babcock-Hitachi GmbH will add 29 MW gas turbines to each of two 212 MW blocks of the power station, which consists of five units altogether.
