Hungary?s leading fixed-line phone company Matáv Rt will change its name to Magyar Telekom Rt, the company said after today?s board meeting. In addition to bringing its name in line with that of German majority owner Deutsche Telekom AG, the company will also adopt a brand structure that parallels the latter?s. The group has already conducted a successful name change in May 2004, when market leading cell phone company Westel Rt was rebranded as T-Mobile Rt. Meanwhile, Deutsche Telekom is gradually introducing all of its ?T-brands? in Hungary, including T-Online, T-Systems and T-Com. The ultimate decision regarding the name change to Magyar Telekom will be made at Feb. 22?s EGM.
