KSH survey shows rising graduate unemployment

Hungary's overall unemployment rate declined from 8.7% at the beginning of 1998 to 6.1% at the end of 2004, though those with college or university degrees rose from 3.7% to 7.5% of the total jobless in that period, according to a recently published Central Statistics Office(KSH) report. According to the survey, the number of officially unemployed having earned a college or university degree grew from 12,900 to 19,000 in that time. The total number of unemployed fell from 345,900 at the end of 1998 to 252,900 at the end of last year.  (Econews; Wed Vg 6)
