Jobless rate rises to 7.3% in July-September

Hungary's rate of unemployment rose to 7.3% in July-September from 7.2% in June-August, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Thursday. The figure is up compared to 6.1% in July-September 2004.
The number of unemployed totaled 309,000 in July-September, up from 302,500 in June-August and from 255,000 in July-September 2004.
The number of people in employment in July-September was 3.928 million, up from 3.917 million in June-August and from 3.907 million in the third quarter of last year. Those unemployed for over 12 months represented 47.4% of all unemployed people, up from 44.4% last year.
The average unemployment rate was 6.1% in 2004, up 0.2 percentage points from 2003.
