January-July trade deficit revised down to €1.495 bln

Hungary's trade deficit was €1.49 billion in the first seven months of 2005, down from €2.6 billion a year earlier, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Friday. KSH revised the seven-month deficit down by a slight €16 million from a preliminary €1.5 billion shortfall announced on September 8. The July deficit was €289 million, down from the preliminary estimate of €304 million, and €40 million more than in July 2004. In July exports rose 4.6% year-on-year to €3.891 billion and imports increased 5.3% in twelve months to €4.18 billion.
