Train services between Hungary and Italy will be affected by a one-day strike called by Italian railway workers for early next week, the Hungarian railways MAV said on Thursday. With the strike set to begin at 9 pm on Monday and last for 24 hours, the Venezia Express, which runs between Budapest and Venice, will only operate between the Hungarian capital and Ljubljana, Slovenia. Its sister train, scheduled to run from Venice to Budapest, will be cancelled. It will run on Tuesday after the strike ends, which means that it is set to leave Venice 50 minutes late. The Goldoni, another express connecting Budapest and Venice,
will leave Budapest as scheduled on Tuesday but will halt at the Slovenian-Italian border. Its sister train that should be coming from Venice will be cancelled. MAV will refund passengers for tickets bought in Hungary for these trains.
