The Simon Wiesenthal Centre has asked Hungary to start an investigation into past activities of Lajos Polgár, a Hungarian-born Melbourne pensioner, who used to hold a senior position in Hungary's Nazi party at the time of WWII, the Foreign Ministry said yesterday. The Wiesenthal Centre enclosed in its request copies of court protocols taken after the war, suggesting that "Polgar made decisions affecting the fate of many Hungarian Jews" (MTI)
