Hungary?s first Gripen fighter ready to fight

The first Gripen fighter to be supplied to the Hungarian military has rolled off the production lines of Saab?s manufacturing plant in Linköping, Sweden, the Swedish Defense Equipment Office said in a press release. The fighter was officially presented to Hungary in a ceremony today in the presence of Hungarian and Swedish Defense Ministers Ferenc Juhász and Leni Bjorklund, the Swedish ambassador to Hungary, representatives of the Hungarian Defense Ministry and Air Force. The fighter will be tested on the ground and airborne by the manufacturers? pilots. Gripen and Saab will start manufacturing five more fighter planes for Hungary in 2005, which will be completed in 2005. The first of these will be flown to Hungary in March 2006.
