Hungarian FM to visit Vatican City

Hungarian Foreign Minister Ferenc Somogyi and Giovanni Lajolo, Secretary of State Relations (foreign minister) of the Holy See, will survey the prospects of relations between Hungary and the Vatican as well as some international affairs in the Vatican City on September 13, Foreign Affairs Spokesman Viktor Polgár said on Friday. The Vatican considers bilateral relations as exemplary and sees Hungary as a state with Christian traditions playing a determining role in Eastern Europe. After the official visit to Vatican City, Somogyi will meet Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Gianfranco Fini to discuss some areas of bilateral cooperation, timely issues of European construction and some international affairs of mutual interest.
