Swiss-owned company Holcim Hungary Rt is to build Europe's most modern cement factory in Nyergesújfalu, head Richard Skene said yesterday. They will close down the 137-year-old factory in Lábatlan and take all the 228 employees to the new place as well as have 52 new jobs. Also, the factory would provide jobs for another 1,000 people since it will contract Hungarian suppliers, cleaning enterprises, etc. The parent company is to invest a total Ft 62 billion by the end of 2009. Discussions with villagers are underway. Their representatives were even invited to to Switzerland to see how such a factory works and demonstrating they environmentally friendly ethos. (MH 12) K.H.
