Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány and outgoing German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder agreed that they expect effective co-ordination of national interest representation and European Union policy in the wake of the parliamentary and presidential elections in Poland. Gyurcsány made a visit to Berlin on Wednesday. Gyurcsány also met with Schroder's successor, Angela Merkel, becoming the first foreign prime minister to meet with Merkel since it was decided that she will become chancellor. Gyurcsány said he discussed bilateral relations and questions of European policy with Schroder and Merkel. The only troubling element of Hungary and Germany's relationship is Germany's procedure for some Hungarians working in the country, Gyurcsány said.
