GVH fines MTelekom Ft 35 million for overcharging alternative telcos

The Competition Office (GVH) has fined Magyar Telekom Rt. Ft 35 million for overcharging other telcos to use its network for toll-free and reduced-toll calls, news portal FigyelőNet reported. GVH said that in 2003 Magyar Telekom, then called Matáv, overcharged alternative telcos PanTel Rt. and GTS Datanet Rt. for so-called "green" and "blue" tariffs. In addition to fining Magyar Telekom, the office ordered the parties to start talks on the financing of interconnect links and come to a mutually acceptable solution.
