Mobile penetration in Hungary stood at 86.4% in December 2004, up on 78.5% in December 2003, the National Telecommunications Authority (NHH) reported. The rise translates into a 9.9% increase in the size of the market over the twelve months to December. During this period, market leader T-Mobile Hungary Rt?s share shrank from 47.4% to 46.2%. In December 2004, Pannon GSM Rt controlled only 33.9% of the market, which compares with 35.8% a year before; whereas Vodafone Hungary Rt?s market share rose by 3.1 percentage points to 19.9% yr/yr. The share of prepaid accounts among all cell phone users slipped from 77.5% to 73.1%.
