The government will introduce compensation for pensioners who find it difficult to pay for district heating, Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány said yesterday. The new compensation system will take effect on October 15 at the latest, he said. Obsolete technology and uneven regulation is responsible for the fact that district heating is much more expensive than individual solutions, said Gyurcsány. Minister of housing István Kolber said that a proposal for introducing heating control systems in homes with district heating would go before the government next week. (MTI; Nv 5, MH 11)
