Gov't readies 2006 budget draft

The government's 2006 draft budget is ready to go before Parliament on Friday, the government spokesman said after an informal government meeting yesterday. András Batiz said that the prime minister and members of the government-finalized key figures in next year's budget yesterday, but these numbers would only be made public on Friday. He said the government would stand by its pledge to create a "fair and secure" budget for 2006. A five-year tax cut plan will begin next year, which will require a frugal budget, Batiz said. The state intends to spend less on the state administration without hindering planned developments next year, he added. (MTI; Nv 1, NG 2)
